  1. Learn infant CPR – you don’t need to be certified, but be sure you know what to do in case of an emergency. You can find step-by-step videos online just by googling it!
  2. Preregister at hospital
  3. Start an Amazon Baby Registry here  – once you start a free baby registry on Amazon and you will be able to claim a free Welcome Box filled with baby products. Note: You must be a Prime member to get the Welcome Box offer after spending $10 on any one item from your registry. If you are not a Prime member yet I highly recommend it! It’s how we buy most of our baby items. You can try a FREE Amazon Prime 30-Day Trial here.
  4. Install car seat
  5. Buy the best baby product we’ve ever purchased – see this post.
  6. Wash and sort baby clothes
  7. Sign up for all the FREEBIES you can get when you’re having a baby. See this post.
  8. Stock up on newborn diapers and wipes – Our favorite diapers are Huggies Little Snugglers and the Huggies Natural Care wipes. You can find them at Babies “R” Us.
  9. Decide who is going to be in the birth room
  10. Find a Pediatrician
  11. Make freezer meals
  12. Go on a date night
  13. Register for Baby’s Basics Classes – With the help of a professional, new and expectant parents will learn how to care for a baby during the first 6 months of infancy – from bathing to diaper changing and beyond! These classes are hosted by a local community medical partner. Click here to check your local Babies “R” Us store for class availability and times.
  14. Stay up past 9 PM and do something for yourself
  15. Pack hospital bag – You can see what I packed with my 3rd baby here.
  16. Get a pedicure and/or your eyebrows done – just because you stop being #1 after baby is born.
  17. Hire a photographer – get in some maternity or newborn shots to remember. See some of my maternity photos here and my DIY baby photos tutorial here.
  18. Buy some nursing bras and tanks
  19. Buy a nursing cover. My favorite hands down is the Milk Snob.
  20. Get some after baby clothes – You will need a few things that aren’t maternity but are also a bit roomier than your normal size. I like to buy secondhand online here for that.
  21. Make a basket of baby necessities for easy finding and keep it close by (thermometer, diaper rash cream, alcohol pads for umbilical cord, nasal aspirator and burb cloths).
  22. Setup a changing station area in several rooms – so you won’t have to go all the way across the house to your changing table. Put diapers, wipes, diaper rash cream and alcohol wipes in a basket and keep a few of these baskets in multiple areas around the house.

Here is one we have in our playroom.
