Last Minute Christmas Crafts – Baby Handprint Ornaments

Christmas is HERE! Today is Christmas Eve and I can’t wait until tomorrow. It’s quiet in the house right now. Family naptime except that I decided to work on a couple of last-minute Christmas crafts to give to the grandmas this year. I have seen versions of these baby handprint ornaments all over Pinterest, so of course I had to try to make my own.

I am in LOVE with the way they turned out!

For the baby’s first Christmas ornament, it was a little tough trying to get her to open up her hand to get a perfect handprint but after two tries I was able to. It was easier to have her roll her hand on the ornament.

This is how I did it. First, I used a foam brush to apply a water-based, non-toxic glue to her hand. Then, I rolled her hand on the ornament. I had the hubby waiting nearby with a baby wipe so that he could get her and wipe her hand off before she put it in her mouth. Everything goes in the mouth at this age.

Then, I used my small craft paint brush and an acrylic gold glitter paint – and I started painting the glued parts in on the ornament.

Once you let it dry, this is what you get. :)

I wrote in “My First Christmas” on the back and then her name and the year on the top of her handprint using a gold Sharpie.

For my toddlers fingerprint snowmen ornament I used a foam brush to apply white acrylic craft paint to her hand. Then I had her hold the ornament from the bottom and pressed her fingers against the ornament.

Once it dried, I began painting the snowmen on the ornament. I used a black sharpie to make the eyes, buttons, mouth and hat. I used blue acrylic craft paint to make the scarf and a gold sharpie for the nose. :) This is what you get.

On the back, I wrote in her name and the year. These are really great keepsakes to look back on and see how tiny their hands were.

I love the way they came out and I know the Grandma’s are going to love them too.

Merry Christmas!!
