My girls went to school last week and I can’t believe just how fast time is flying. I have a first grader and a Kindergartener this year. I remember when I went to pack TWO lunches the first morning going back, instead of one that I had last year, that was a big change, the realization set in that I will just have one at home with me now. There were definitely some tears shed that first day but the best part was picking them up and listening to them comparing notes about their first day of school. It’s the first time sending two off but they attend such a small school that they see each other throughout the day and have classes directly across from each other. We love it!
Making my kid’s lunches first thing in the morning starts off my day. Just the act of putting something together for them that I know they will love and will bring a smile to their faces makes my day. Every morning I start off by wiping down all my counters with Clorox® Disinfecting Wipes or Clorox® Clean-Up® spray because I need a clean surface to lay everything I will need out.
I am partnering with Clorox today for this back to school post because when you make a Clorox clean the first thing…good things just follow – fewer sick days, more morning kisses, the best first day of school ever, and more sweet moments. For me, with three little ones, there’s nothing more important than having a cleaner, healthier and happier home for them to come home to at the end of the day.
You can also join Clorox in supporting DonorsChoose.org, which allows teachers across America to create projects and request resources students need to enable first moments in their classrooms. For every $5 spent on qualifying Clorox products purchased, you earn a $1 reward and The Clorox Company will donate $1 to classrooms in need through DonorsChoose.org.
To make a donation directly, visit DonorsChoose.org where teachers post requests for materials and experiences to enhance their classrooms. Anyone can choose a project to fund and by donating to a project with The Clorox Company dollar-for-dollar match offer, donors double the impact of their donation.
Sending two to school this year is bittersweet. I miss them at home but I also love the fact that they now have each other at school. I also love that the school is so small that they can see each other in the hallway and at lunchtime. My favorite part is listening to them come home and talk to each other about their day. This time in our lives is so special right now.
The kids took turns taking the first day of school pictures with me while the other one took the photo. I’ll cherish these forever.
Insights from a consumer survey say that a child’s first day of school stands out as a memorable milestone – almost 7 in 10 say it’s one of their child’s most memorable moments.
