Update: I have gotten alot of questions as to which coconut oil I use in my beauty recipes. I use this one Organic Coconut Oil.
Body Scrubs made with essential oils are amazing because not only do they smell fantastic but the aroma while using the scrub is enough to relax any stressed out, busy mama.
The body scrub recipe I have today contains Coconut oil, Vitamin E oil and Rose essential oil.
It smells amazing!
Use 1/4 cup Coconut Oil. To melt the coconut oil I put it into a mason jar and put it in a pan of water on the stove top to melt it just enough. Once it’s mostly melted, I took it out and shook it so that the rest of the oil melted evenly.
I don’t recommend microwaving although you can. Heating the oil too much can sometimes take out some of the healing properties that coconut oil contains. And if you’re like me during the winter with dry skin, I need all the pampering I can get.
Once the oil is melted, combine the oil with 1 cup of sugar, a few drops of Vitamin E Oil and a few drops of the essential oil.
Optional: To get the pink color I added 1 tiny drop of red food coloring. Since it’s such a small amount the food coloring doesn’t stain your skin. If you’re using it just for yourself you can leave it out, but if you’re giving it as a gift you can always add it in to give it the full effect and it really does no harm.
Once combined, put into a pretty little jar and enjoy!!
