DIY Headache Relief Roll-on

Essential Oil Headache Relief Peppermint Essential Oils Natural Remedy for Headaches MIgraines Tension

I’ve been battling debilitating migraines and headaches since I can remember. They started when I was in my 20’s and only got worse after I got pregnant and started a family. I’ve tried so many things, I’ve seen doctors, had all the scans done and was just diagnosed with tension headaches and migraines. I would take aspirin everyday of my life, except when pregnant I could only take Tylenol that did absolutely nothing for them. I was desperate and started searching for other alternatives. I finally finally found some relief in using essential oils.

It was like night and day from one day to the next. The debilitating migraines and headaches that used to plague me every week, literally putting me out of commission for the entire day – lasting from the time I woke up to the time I went to bed, have completely vanished from my life. I used to feel so horrible at least once a week. I couldn’t play with my kids, I would find myself laying down on the couch the the entire day and did not get up unless it was to make lunch or a snack or get someone a drink. Most of the time it was so bad I would succumb to convenience meals and just order a pizza for lunch and sometimes even dinner. My daughter used to ask me frequently – ‘mommy, do you have a headache today?’ because she’s heard it so frequently. It made me sad! Some days I felt like I was missing out. My wonderful and understanding husband would sometimes offer to take the girls out for the entire day so that I could just sleep. I saw doctors, had the scans and was diagnosed with migraines and tension headaches…the next step was to be sent to a neurologist for Botox injections after my baby was born. Luckily I won’t need them anymore.

The only difference in my daily regimen between now and then are these oils. I use this blend almost everyday, on the days I feel it coming on, and if you have chronic headaches then you know the feelings you get before you actually get them. You know when they are coming on and you know it’s going to be one of those days. I use my roll-on and since I started using them – no headaches! I can honestly say it’s completely changed my life. I can enjoy every day now and not be plagued with horrible headaches and I attribute them to essential oils.

Here is my DIY recipe you can put in a roller bottle and use everyday if needed.

10-20 drops Peppermint

5 drops PanAway

Fill a roller-ball vial to the top using a carrier oil. I use Organic Coconut Oil.

I buy my roller-ball vials on Amazon here – Roller-ball bottles

If you feel that your headaches are due to tension, you can add a few drops of Lavender for a calming effect.

How I use it: When I start feeling the tension in my neck, I will apply the roller to the back and sides of my neck, under my hairline behind my head, behind the ears. If I am already experiencing a headache I will apply it to the temples and along my hairline as well.

Hi, Do you use a solid coconut oil? If so, I assume you get it to a liquid and once you add the oils does it stay a liquid?

Hi! Yes I use a solid coconut oil and mine won’t harden up again after it’s mixed, but we also live in a warm climate. Sometimes in the winter it will get thicker but if I shake it up it turns into liquid again.
