If you’ve been around my blog before you might have already realized that I have a slight obsession with body scrubs. 1. Because they are just so easy and quick to make and 2. The combinations you can come up with are ENDLESS. Not to mention the different scents and smells you can create can really make for a relaxing bath-time at the end of any stressful day.
Today’s body scrub is made with sugar, coconut oil, chamomile and orange! Well the peel anyway….
Here’s what you need:
1-2 Chamomile Tea bags. I had TAZO Calm on hand, which contains Chamomile, so that’s what I used.
1 orange and a grater. (You are only using the peel)
1/4 cup of Coconut oil
1-2 drops of Orange essential oil
1 cup plain white sugar
Hot to make:
All you do is combine the Chamomile, Coconut oil, orange essential oil and sugar together in a bowl.
Use a grater and grate some orange peel into bowl.
Mix together.
That’s it!
Note: If you store your coconut oil in the refrigerator you will need to warm it so that it softens before it will mix.
I keep mine in the pantry at room temperature so I was able to mix it without warming.
If you like your scrubs smoother you can add in more coconut oil. For a fluffier scrub, add in more sugar.
Adding in the orange peel gives it just a hint of orange scent and color.
Optional: If giving as a gift you can add in orange essential oil to enhance the scent or food coloring to add color.
I purchase all of my essential oils from Young Living. To read more about my journey with essential oils see my oils page here.

February 28, 2014 at 3:44 pmI love this! Did you heat the coconut oil at all to mix it all together or did you use a mixer? I usually use EVO for my scrubs, but use coconut oil for everything else.

February 28, 2014 at 3:50 pmThanks Gaby! I don’t refrigerate mine so it doesn’t get rock solid, I was able to easily scoop it and mix, but if you do store yours in the fridge then yes you will need to microwave to soften first before it will mix easily.

March 1, 2014 at 1:53 pmI don’t refrigerate mine either, but I think my house gets pretty cold inside because my coconut oil is pretty hard to even scoop out. I’ll try warming mine a little first. I can’t wait to try this! Thanks for the great idea. I love the orange rind.
