We went grocery shopping this weekend and I was sooo excited to see that Halloween stuff is popping up left and right. It’s one of my FAVORITE holidays and I start getting into the baking and decorating mode. Usually around September is when I will start getting ideas together for Halloween baking. My girls love to be my taste testers, and my husband’s coworkers love me around this time of the year because I will usually send a batch with him to work too.
I love love love Oreos and I found these Oreo Halloween Cookies when we went grocery shopping and I knew I had to do something with them.
This recipe has one of my favorite ingredients to bake with- CREAM CHEESE! That makes these cookies extra moist and the orange filling from the oreo cookies turns them orange which is perfect for Halloween.
This recipe makes about 16 cookies.
What You Need
4 oz of softened cream cheese
10-12 Oreo cookies broken into pieces
3/4 cup sugar
1 cup + 2 tablespoons flour
8 tablespoons softened salted butter
Use mixer and mix together cream cheese and butter. It’s easier if you soften the butter and cream cheese prior so it blends easily.
Add in sugar. Blend all together.
Next, add in flour a little bit at a time until the mixture becomes doughy.
Add in 10-12 broken oreo cookies. There is no particular way to break them up. I let my 4-year old help and we just crumbled them into the mix. You don’t want them to be finely chopped because you want to taste the pieces of cookie in the cookie – delicious!
Make into a round dough ball and refrigerate dough for 1 hour.
Once dough has been refrigerated for 1 hour preheat oven at 350 degrees.
Make small round dough balls and press them onto a non-stick cookie sheet like this one. If you have a stick cookie sheet you can use a little bit of flour on the cookie sheet.
Cook 10-13 minutes or until the edges turn lightly brown.
Since the cookies are made with cream cheese they will be very soft right out of the oven. Let them stand for 10 minutes before handling and stand for another 10 minutes before serving.
These are so amazing! Let me know if you try them!
