Homemade Finger Paint Recipe – Ducky Dish Brush Toddler Art Activity

collagefeaturedka12edit

One of my New Years resolutions was to be more hands-on with the girls and start doing more activities with them. It’s so easy to get caught up in the routine of things and there are only so many times a toy can be exciting and new.

This two ingredient finger paint is just one of the things we have started having fun with. And to make it even more fun, my daughter picked out a duck brush at the store the other day to use with the paints. It’s actually a dish brush, but she loved it and it worked perfectly with the paints.

The finger paint is EASY to make, has just two ingredients and is completely safe for the little ones should they decide to sneak in a taste.

Homemade edible finger paint recipe. Ducky Dish Brush Toddler Art Activity

RECIPE

1/4 cup flour
1 cup water
food coloring

Mix flour and water in a saucepan and heat until mixture becomes thick. Remove from heat. Let cool and add in different colors of food coloring.

This recipe makes about a cup of paint.

That’s it!

It was so easy and she had a blast.

Her Ducky Brush was a hit. I knew it would be. This is one activity we will be adding to the weekly activity schedule.

Perfect activity, Melanie! David and I love edible finger painting, especially in an empty tub with just a couple of different brushes 🙂 If your little one doesn’t like the flour taste, use yogurt. But beware. She might just sit down and eat it without much playing like my boy does haha
    Have a blessed day!

Jacy, yogurt is a great idea! Mine didn’t try to eat much of it but she did get a taste in which is why I’m so glad it’s safe for them. I bet my daughter would love getting in the tub and painting, easy clean up too! Thanks for the idea. 🙂

I have a fond memory of using chocolate pudding to fingerpaint when I was around two. Such fun! I love how colorful your paint turned out. Your little one is adorable and seems to be having a fantastic time.
