First My History & Skepticism
Rewind to a few years ago when I first started seeing posts from my fellow bloggers about Young Living Essential Oils. I admit, I was a total skeptic. I thought, oh just another trend, another pyramid scheme right? I saw posts on “there’s an oil for that”, “free your home of chemicals”, I was pretty annoyed, seeing it anytime I looked on Facebook. I had no idea what Young Living was, I just knew it had to be another new thing on the market that I would probably see go away soon. Well it didn’t and then all of a sudden, almost seemingly overnight, some of those testimonies from other mothers started to resonate with me.
Three years ago I was pregnant and I became a mother for the first time. It was then that my life changed, in many many ways. I started realizing that I was no longer living my life for myself, but I was living for another human being. Another human being relied on me, depended on me and needed me. She consumed me. She was now my life. And it made me stop in my tracks and look at the world around me. I was no longer living day to day but I was living for her future. I became consumed with protecting her from anything and everything that was negative and toxic in this world.
Fast forward a little more, I met someone who was a huge supporter of essential oils, someone who lived an ‘oily’ life. I started thinking that, maybe there’s something to these oils. I decided to give them a try. First with myself, I suppose I wanted to be the guinea pig before I used them on my kids. After having rid my chronic tension headaches with oils and then being able to ditch my OTC meds, I became a believer. I started doing the research and started using oils for everything and that included with my family. Fast forward a few years later and I am now living for two little girls and a baby boy on the way. Having children puts everything in perspective. It makes you think of everything that surrounds you in this world. My family is my life, my priority and I want to do everything in my power to keep them healthy and happy.
Mom Bloggers & Making This a Business
Starting a business with Young Living was as simple as being approached by a friend who told me how she got started with the business side. I think being a mom blogger makes it an easy transition to actually start a business as a Young Living essential oil distributor. Why? Because we are lifestyle – family bloggers. Talking about our family’s life in a public outlet is what we do. We are moms, we love our families, we are passionate and we are also entrepreneur’s, we are mama-preneur’s. It comes naturally to us.
Here are some FAQ’s about the business side of YL.
By purchasing oils, does that mean you have to sell oils?
Nope! By becoming a member with YL, you are free to purchase oils at wholesale price without any obligation to sell or buy anything ever again.
Isn’t this just a pyramid scheme?
This is a network marketing business built on relationships. Joining the business is just an option to becoming a member, it’s not required. And it’s only a scheme if there are no real products being offered, which we know is not the case. Essential oils from YL are pure, therapeutic-grade oils that are life-changing.
How much time will this require?
It all depends on how much you want to put into it. I can sit and work 2-3 hours on marketing ideas, answering emails, writing posts for my blog and social media. Most days I spend 1-2 hours a day doing something oil related on the business side. This is your own business, therefore you can put as much time into it as you want. There are no requirements, no work days or hours. The more you put into it the better your paycheck will be but ultimately it’s completely your call. I am a busy mom to two and expecting a third, I blog full-time and I also have a side photography business. Even with wearing three hats at home, I find a way to fit in a few hours a week into the oil business and the paychecks are what keep me motivated.
How much can I expect to make each month?
This depends on your rank and your business structure. You can take a look at the compensation potential earnings for YL here.
I am not a sales person. How can I sell oils?
I have heard this several times before from my own members. Yet when they start receiving their commission checks they are pleasantly surprised and realize that you don’t have to be a sales person to do this as a business. The products are the real thing. They are invaluable to families and the speak for themselves. You don’t have to sell. By sharing your personal testimonies and experience on the ways the oils have worked for you and your family, people will see your passion.
Do I have to be a blogger to join your team?
Absolutely not! I have people from all walks of life on my team. Some are bloggers, some are stay at home mom’s, some are photographers, others already have a career but love their oils and want to be reimbursed for them. You don’t need to be or become a blogger to join our team.
