A couple of weekends ago we all got out of the house and went downtown to San Antonio’s Market Square. Downtown San Antonio is an old, historic part of our city. Market Square gets filled with food vendors and music just about every weekend.
When I was younger, my family would frequent the Market Place on the weekends to get some good authentic Mexican food and listen to some good music. I haven’t been since I’ve had the girls, so it was nice to get out there with my own family for the first time.
It was a little drizzly, but that did not stop anyone from coming out. San Antonio is VERRRRY hot in the summer, so it was nice that the rain brought the temperature down a couple of degrees that day.
If you are from South Texas then you know that I am in no way exaggerating when I say our summers are HOOOOT!
The entertainment that day was a young girl singing some Spanish songs and my daughter LOVED watching her. I wonder if she has some performing arts in her future 🙂 She does love to be center of attention.
We went down to try to samples that they were giving out from the Food Helper Truck. And in case you didn’t know, the Helper Truck is on an American Tour visiting cities all around the country.
They had two samples for everyone to try, Sweet & Sour Chicken and Crunchy Taco. We tried them both and, although they were both really good, the Sweet & Sour Chicken Helper seemed to be the families favorite by far.
It was delicious! And I’m not just saying that 🙂
I really liked it and so did Ms. picky eater.
I think she liked it because it was sweet and she loves rice, so it was a perfect combination. We also got a couple of coupons to use when we go to the grocery store next time that we will definitely use. These boxed dinners are super easy to make, and if you follow my blog, you know that one of our biggest struggles right now is meal planning. I wrote a recent post about this and my families plan to try out a new Meal Planner. It has definitely helped, and this is definitely a meal I will be adding to our monthly planner 🙂
In case you DO want to get a sample yourself, you are in luck!
