Sleepy Time Essential Oil Cream + Roller Recipe and Diffusing Blend for Kids

Sleepy Time Essential Oil Roller and Diffusing Blend for Kids

Sleepy Time Essential Oil Roller and Diffusing Blend for Kids

I’m a work from home mama, so I take naptime VERY seriously. It’s the only time during the day that I have a few moments to myself to think and to get some work done. Once I put the girls down for a nap, after fighting to stay awake myself, I head to my computer and do the things that I could not do the rest of the day. So needless to say, this time is crucial in my day as a work from home mom.

Peace & Calming II  +  Valor  +  Lavender

Lately, we’ve been diffusing this blend while the girls nap and I thought I would share this recipe with you. We add 3 drops of each into the diffuser and diffuse when they sleep. I did not know just how well this worked until today. The girls took much LONGER to lay down and fall asleep. AND when they woke up, they were so cranky!! We’ve been using sleepy blends for a while now and I forgot what it was like when they don’t wake up in a good mood.

You an also use these oils and make a sleepy roller with rollers like THESE. I make a roller for the girls that I rub on their feet, I use 10 drops of each oil and then fill the rest of the roller bottle with the organic coconut oil. If I was making one for myself, I would up the oils and add about 20 drops of each.

If you have kids with ticklish feet, you can make this into a cream and make it a nighttime routine where you give them a foot massage right before. For naptimes we diffuse because it’s quick, for bedtime I use the cream and give them a foot massage. It’s already become a nightly ritual so I think it helps trigger their little minds that bedtime is right around the corner.

For the sleepy cream, just mix 1/2 cup organic coconut oil with 1/4 cup of shae butter and mix in your oils. I get the shae butter on Amazon here. I made a similar body butter here for myself that I have used on my belly during pregnancy. I would put about 10 drops of oil for each for the girls. I always dilute my kids mixtures more than I do my own.

And for the essential oils used in my recipes, the only company of oils we use is Young Living. Since essential oils are not regulated, you need to be careful what oils you are using on your skin and on your body. Companies can put any filler or additive into what they call an “essential oil”. Most of what you will find at the grocery store is either another ingredient altogether, is synthetic and can be dangerous to your health, or has toxic fillers in it. We chose Young Living because of their transparent process. They have rigorous testing and standards for their oils. No fillers are ever added to Young Living’s oils and no toxins are present. In fact, they don’t even use pesticides or herbicides on their crops or soil so that toxins won’t be present ever. Anything that comes from a farm outside of Young Living’s farms must meet these strict standards as well. You can visit the Young Living farms anytime you want and see their methods of growth and testing. That’s how open they are about their purity. You can see YL’s seed to seal promise on their website. www.seedtoseal.com.
