State Farm Invites Individuals to Submit Causes to Assist Their Neighborhoods

State Farm Neighborhood Assist. Do you have a cause that's dear to your heart? Win a $25,000 grant to help your community.
This is part of a sponsored collaboration with Latina Mom Bloggers and State Farm.  However, all opinions expressed are my own.

State Farm Neighborhood Assist

From March 3 through March 23, State Farm is asking people from the U.S. and Canada to submit a cause to help make their community a better place, for a chance to win one of 40 $25,000 State Farm Neighborhood Assist grants. This is now the third year the Neighborhood Assist youth-led philanthropic program has empowered people in the community to identify issues that are important to them and then giving them the means to make a difference. Once the 40 winning causes are chosen, the program then connects the winners with local non-profits to help them solve their problem.

State Farm Neighborhood Assist. Do you have a cause that's dear to your heart? Win a $25,000 grant to help your community.

I think it’s amazing that State Farm is giving people a chance to make a difference, I also like the fact that the advisory board is comprised of 30 students between the ages of 17-20. It’s the youth that are our future. Cliche I know, but it’s true. I want my girls growing up knowing the issues we face today in society and grow up wanting to give back and make a difference somehow, whatever it is they are passionate about.

So here’s how you can get involved. You are invited to submit causes via the free State Farm Neighborhood Assist Facebook app. The time to submit is open until March 23, however submissions will stop being accepted once 4,000 causes are received. Then the State Farm Youth Advisory Board will review all submissions and identify the top 200 based on a scoring rubric. The top 200 causes will be announced on April 28th and then anyone who has the Facebook app can start voting, up to 10 votes per day until May 16th. The top 40 vote-receiving causes will receive a $25,000 grant. The winning causes will be announced on the Facebook app on May 27.

So go download the Facebook app now so you can participate. Do you have a cause that is important to you? If so, submit it EARLY because the submissions will close once 4,000 are received and based on the past few years, this was way before the deadline.

I love that State Farm is doing this, I wonder if I can submit ideas for my old community. We just moved to a new area three weeks ago and I have no idea what they could use. I will go check it out to see if I can submit for my old neighborhood.

I love that State Farm is doing this!! My neighborhood is a-ok, but there are other sections of town or even a nearby city that could use this.

Forty $25,000 State Farm Neighborhood Assist grants is really a wonderful thing! I am sure it must be next to impossible to narrow 4,000 down to just 40 because most surely they are all worthy causes.

I really like this initiative because I feel that there are so many struggling communities that are lacking important resources for young people especially.

Sounds like a great thing State Farm is doing. I would love to have street lights in my neighborhood. We live in a very secluded and quiet neighborhood but we have no street lights. Maybe with a few the kids can stay out a bit longer.

I agree that it’s awesome that the panel members are young adults. It is important to set those standards and let the kids be so totally involved like this. Good lessons for us, them, and the community. A $25k grant is nice too. 🙂

I hadn’t heard about this program before. I think it’s great that the board is made up of youths, it’s important that youth be involved and heard for many reasons.
