Taking Time for Myself – Four Months Postpartum

Taking Time for Yourself, Beauty for moms
This is a compensated campaign in collaboration with Unilever and Latina Bloggers Connect.

Well here I am…4 months postpartum…

Somedays I feel like one hot mama ready to take on the world. Other days, I definitely let my insecurities take over that world. I am not so brave as to post a photo of me with NO makeup at all, so here I am with a little concealer. As natural as I can go for you.

Taking Time for Yourself, Beauty for moms

As a stay at home mom to two little ones still in diapers this is not the first time I admit here, that I can be found in my yoga pants wayyyy too much. It’s just so much easier, when tending to the kids all day, some most days I don’t have much time for myself. This new routine of being a stay at home mom to both of my babies sometimes has me feeling less than beautiful. It’s so easy to get lost in the hustle and bustle of things, but we are still women who love to look and feel beautiful. We’re not taxi cab drivers to our kids, we’re not waitresses or milk machines. Yes I said it, and I’ve said it out loud before too – I am not a milk machine!

Lately, I’ve been realizing that it doesn’t take a ton to get me to feel a little put together each day. Just getting up everyday and getting dressed, even if I don’t have anywhere to go, putting on a little makeup and doing my hair a little is enough. Or even a long, uninterrupted shower one day, or a minute to pamper myself a little – with a bubble bath? or doing my nails? I think we all need that to feel good and beautiful.

And sure it might help to go out and spend a lot of money on expensive beauty products, but lets face it, with everything that I have going on in my life, all my priorities and expenses that come along with two babies – I won’t. I’m more likely to say that I will run down to the CVS near my house and pick up a few things, like what’s in my beauty bag right now – Keratin Infusing Smoothing Serum and Ponds Rejuveness – that’s more realistic for me.

Ultimately, it is my hope that it is my inner beauty that will shine through all my blemishes and my squishy arms, and that my insecurities will never hold me back, and that my girls will grow up to love themselves by seeing their mama love herself.

Don’t forget yourself mamas. It’s sooo easy to do with the sleepless nights and wide awake babies, but you are beautiful and sacrificial. Try to love yourself today and everyday. 🙂

Here’s a little more info on the products I mentioned above.

You so do not need the concealer. You are beautiful both inside and out! I agree though you really don’t need to spend a ton of money to look/feel beautiful . I don’t have a CVS near my house and at times I wish I did because their prices were so reasonable. It was my go to pharmacy when I lived in NY and I still have my CVS card. 🙂

Amanda, you are so sweet! Thanks. And yes, I definitely rely on my CVS for my beauty bag products for sure. 🙂

This is great Melanie. People think I’m crazy for fixing my hair and wearing makeup when I stay at home with my baby. It does so much for your well being though.
Today my mom is babysitting while I get a haircut and manicure. I’m so looking forward to it!
