Day of the Dead or “Dia De Los Muertos” is a Mexican holiday celebrated from October 31st to November 2nd by people of Mexican heritage all around the world. It’s also a time for family and friends to gather and celebrate and remember those who have passed before us. Think of it as a celebration of life.

When you think of Dia De Los Muertos you most definitely think of colorful skulls or “calaveras”. sugar skulls are used to decorate the “ofrendas” of the loved ones who have passed. Sugar skulls are colorful and are made of a sugar mixture made into a skull shape.

I filled the skull shape in with REESE’S Peanut Butter Cup White Creme Miniatures and used TWIZZLERS candy and JOLLY RANCHERS candy to add color. I outlined the shape of the skull with snack sized chocolates along with KIT KAT® bars and I also cut a nose shape from the KIT KAT® bars. The eyes are REESE’S Peanut Butter Cups and I filled them in with WHOPPERS candy. At the very end I cut up some more TWIZZLERS candy and added color around the eyes and nose. Lastly, I filled the tray with lots of wrapped candies to serve our guests.

What do you think? Will you be making a Hershey’s Day of the Dead Party Candy Tray? It was so much fun to do and you can get really creative!
