When Being a Family goes Beyond Mom and Dad

Johnson & Johnson Familia De Hoy
This is a compensated campaign in collaboration with Johnson & Johnson and Latina Bloggers Connect.

Johnson & Johnson and Univision have launched a campaign to find an authentic, modern and active family to become “La Familia de Hoy” (Today’s Family). There are three families that are competing for the title of “La Familia de Hoy” and we need your help in choosing the next spokesfamily for Johnson & Johnson in 2014.

So what does it mean to be “La Familia de Hoy?” To me that means being a solid unit, one that goes beyond the mother and father, it goes further down – through the generations. And within that unit is a support system, one where each member supports the others and you know that no matter what happens, there is always someone there to pick you up if you should fall. To me, that secure place is a place where confidence stems and I think that is so important for a child to have in order to become a confident, well-rounded adult.

This to me, is what it means to be “La Familia de Hoy”.

Growing up there was a point in our lives when I was little, where we – my mom, dad and sister, all lived with my grandma and grandpa. I grew up so close to them and I have so many memories with them growing up. They are no longer with us, but these memories will never go away, and I’m so glad that my sister and I were as close to our grandparents as we were.

The Jimenez family is just one of the families in the running for Johnson & Johnson’s spokesfamily of the year. They are composed of 3 families whose houses are connected by their backyards.

Here’s are some pictures of the family.

I grew up in the caribbean where the families are very close knit. My mom’s house was very close to my grandma’s and I had aunts and uncles whose houses weren’t too far away either. Having that support system is such a blessing. Will have to check out the other families in the running but the Jimenez family looks great from the photos I see.

Thank you for voting for us, I really appreciate your support…. The fact that we live right next door to each other is an experience that could not be replicated. Our kids are growing up with their cousins and it REALLY brings the family together. One thing you might not know, the sister-in-laws get along great too…in fact, they occasionally sneak out at night while my brothers and I watch the kids and compare notes about my mom, “The Mother-in-law”…. its quite entertaining. Please keep voting for us and encourage others to vote too at http://www.unvision.com/lafamiliadehoy …. my best to you and your familia, Juan J. Jimenez
